CAD Specialist

Manager/Supervisor: Design Manager

This position will be responsible for taking renderings from the Industrial Design team and turning them into working 3-D surface or solid models. The candidate will need to have a strong background in 3-D modeling and the ability to create complex surface models. They will have the ability to communicate well with the different engineering disciplines to make sure that the design intent is met.

Essential Functions

  • Create 3-D surface models of boat parts and molds and make modifications and refinements based on design feedback and technical requirements
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to optimize the surface design for all aspects of manufacturing and product life
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in 3-D surface design
  • Create 3-D models, prototypes, and detailed drawings of parts and assemblies in SolidWorks
  • Maintain organization of CAD files and storage
  • Maintain assembly files for all parts
  • Convert customer native files to usable formats
  • Be hands on and willing to teach and demonstrate proper techniques shop floor

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field. Certain combinations of formal education and work experience could be adequate
  • Strong 3-D modeling skills with the ability to produce surface models
  • SolidWorks experience preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with the ability to effectively prioritize
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work in a fast-paced team environment
